As well as reading paperbacks and hardback books I have also been reading books on wattpad since I joined in 2012. It is where I also post my own original writing. = http://www.wattpad.com

I have read a lot of books on wattpad since I joined.

There are my best picks from 2012.

  1. Roots by S. L. Long (29 chapters)

Summary – In the summer of 1918 a tragedy echoed across the world when the Russian Imperial Romanov family was murdered by communists leaving much of the country crying out in mourning. Yet, there was a myth that one daughter, the youngest daughter; the Grand Duchess Anastasia had escaped. Though many disbelieved, for some this would prove to be more than a rumour and it would change their lives forever.

Annalisa Peterson, a senior in high school, is dying to get out and move as far away from her family as possible. Not that she has had a rough childhood, but she wants to get away from constantly being expected to be the perfect A student and consistently having to visit her great grandmother who doesn’t seem to like her, and oh year, doesn’t speak a word of English.

One final class assignment could change everything that she’s ever known, and could literally re-write history. To find out the truth about her family’s history, it isn’t long before she’s digging through old papers, books, photographs, and even travelling to Russia; not to mention getting her heart tangled up with the enemy along the way.

As Annalisa finds out more and more, she’s quickly discovering that once the real truth is out, her entire life will be turned upside down, and life will become much more dangerous for her, and those around her.

Secrets are revealed. Questions are answered. One thing is certain; Annalisa never thought that her senior year would end like this.

I am obsessed with the Romanov family and the idea that one of them survived was a theory believed for so many years. I thought this was a thrilling interpretation of the mystery and is still one of my favourite books on wattpad.

2. Cupid’s Granddaughter by GermanSam (33 Chapters)

Summary – Greek Mythology. First installment in the Cupid series.

Amore, Liebe, Amour, No matter what language you say it in it means love and it’s Peyton’s job. Her grandfather is Cupid and he’d hired her as his newest apprentice against her own will. And now he says that he wants to hand the business over to her? No thank you! The hours suck and there’s only one rule: no falling in love. It’s simple since Peyton isn’t looking for love. But it seems that Cupid’s arrow is best shot through the heart when you’re least expecting it. With one final challenge before taking over the business, Peyton has to find the soul mate of the only immortal thing allowed to live on Earth: a fallen angel. Easier said than done.

This was one of the first books I read on wattpad and I lived for the story. There was just something so magical and unique and I devoured this book. It is a very original take on Greek Mythology.

3. Athena’s Enigma by GermanSam (33 Chapters)

Summary – Greek Mythology. Second installment in the Cupid series.

Athena’s daughter, Avena (Vee), has a unique gift of being able to read minds. She doesn’t want this special power that has been bestowed upon her unwillingly and just strives to be normal. Vee is a secret to everyone in Olympus so she isn’t allowed to go into the mortal world to expose the secret Athena has so desperately tried to keep from everyone. But when Vee strives for normality in her abnormal world, how can her loving mother deny her of a wish? Is it possible for a gifted immortal to live in peace with mortals? Is Cupid really done playing his games or will another immortal only bring back his desire for a cure to boredom? Only time will tell…

This is the second story in the series and I found it wonderfully imaginative and unique. I stepped into the shoes of Greek Mythology again and found myself experiencing something new and different. A fantastic read.

4. Roman Roommate by GermanSam (33 Chapters)

Summary – Greek Mythology. Third installment in the Cupid Series!

Evie wants nothing to do with the romance business. Love will come along when it does and she does not want to be told otherwise. Her fallen angel boss has a son coming into town for business. Needing a place to stay, Evie’s boss begs her to let her son stay with her while he is in town. Come to find out, Evie has met this mysterious new roommate of hers before. Through a series of odd events, Evie and this new friend grow closer despite the fact that Evie is trying her best to keep them apart. Can she stand the tension even after they learn that they are from two totally different worlds? Is his ‘business’ in town really just that? What game is Cupid playing now?

This was the best conclusion to the series. The idea that Cupid is constantly bored was very interesting to see and explore. This book was interesting because Evie was mortal and it was different to the previous two books in the series but still very fabulous.

5. The Princess of Pirates by Thannujah Mathiy (17 Chapters)

Summary – Princess Nerina of Caspian is a troubled girl dreaming of adventures on the great blue sea. She is always trying her hardest to disobey her mother, who wants her as far away from the ocean as possible for reasons that are unknown to everyone except the King and Queen of Caspian.

Nerina’s parents cause to possibly protect her isn’t helped at all, especially when she meets the gorgeous and dashing yet stubborn Captain Edward Smith III, the son of the dead Caspian King of Pirates.

Though their meeting was a complete misunderstanding, the two are forced to sail together as they learn of the great darkness that lurks deep in the ocean…which may have more to do with Nerina and Edward then they think.

And soon enough, the two find themselves pulled into a passionate and senseless love that no one is happy with.

This was my first foray into pirate stories and what a book to start with! This was imaginative, adventurous, romantic, mysterious and vengeful all rolled into one. A must read for those that love pirates.

6. Bite Me by MADcreations (42 Chapters)

Summary –

Living with a hot boy is fine.

Living with five hot boys is hard.

Living with five hot brothers is tough.

Being captured by five hot vampire brothers takes the cake.

Nora Holt is 24, just got out of college, and is in need of a car. She’s the type of girl who doesn’t take shit, and speaks her mind. If you mess with her, you’re most likely going to end up somewhere in Mexico or being chased by hungry wolves. So when she’s walking home at 1:30 am down an allyway, this can only lead to trouble.

Lots of trouble.

The next thing she knows, she’s thrown into a world of a singing vampire, a crazy ex-boyfriend (who she now realises is a vampire and is trying to kill her), and a house full of five hot vampires. How the hell does a girl handle a situation like this?

She bites her way through it, of course.

This book is as crazy as it sounds and equally as good and funny. How can you pass up a book that has this to offer? Give it a chance.

7. Lailah by Nikki Kelly (79 Chapters) – now published in print in US and Canada.

Summary – The girl knows she’s different. She doesn’t age. She has no family. She has visions of a past life, but no clear clues as to what she is, or where she comes from. But there is a face in her dreams – a light that breaks through the darkness. She knows his name is Gabriel.

On her way home from work, the girl encounters an injured stranger whose name is Jonah. Soon, she will understand that Jonah belongs to a generation of Vampires that serve even darker forces. Jonah and the few like him, are fighting with help from an unlikely ally – a rogue Angel, named Gabriel.

In the crossfire between good and evil, love and hate, and life and death, the girl learns her name: Lailah.

But when the lines between black and white begin to blue, where in the spectrum will she find her place? And with whom?

Gabriel and Jonah both want to protect her. But Lailah will have to fight her own battle to find out who she truly is.

I remember reading this when it was in it’s first draft and thinking it was amazing. Apparently other people thought it was amazing too for it has now been published. This was the first book in the series and I remember thinking how phenomenal it was while I was reading.

Hope you found these interesting. Let me know if you’re a wattpad reader or if you have any favourite books on there that you’ve read. I’ll post my showcase for 2013 soon.
