I didn’t always love books. When I was little I hated books. Hate is a strong word, I think I was more angry and frustrated with myself than I was with books. See, when I was little I found reading a struggle. We didn’t know then that I was dyslexic and we didn’t understand the limited processing I had. I remember being so frustrated because all my friends had moved from the yellow (easy) bookcase to the blue (intermediate) bookcase at school. I didn’t understand why I wasn’t getting something that seemed so simple to everyone else.
Harry Potter came out when I was seven and I am forever grateful to J.k.Rowling because she opened a new door for me. My Mum read the first two books to me and I was hooked, Dad read the third and by then I was gone. Harry Potter became so important to me that I wanted to work on my reading, I was so determined to be good and to get over the difficulties I was having. I has worked, for the most part. I can now devour books in a matter of hours to a matter of days. There are still some genres/styles of books that I avoid but for the most part I have become a better reader through years of hard work and determination.
Outside of books, I’m just a normal woman living in the UK. My name is Hannah. I love playing on my Xbox (the Assassin’s Creed series being a favourite of mine), I love colouring and have now amassed 30 colouring books. I love cooking and baking (especially cheesecakes) and experimenting with recipes on Pinterest. I love dogs, I have two Italian Greyhounds, Freddie who is twelve and a anti-social gentleman and Luca who is two and a crazy blur of beige. I am also a self confessed stationery addict and a member of Slytherin (I dare you to come for me!)
