Favourite Authors

I seem to always be looking for new and interesting segments to add to this blog. Over the course of the last seven months, this blog has gone from being a hobby of mine to being a slight obsession. It has helped me to branch out, to become more confident, to better manage my OCD and to meet new people who are as obsessed with books as I am. I have gone from a traditional book reviewing blog to a blog with far more tabs that I ever thought I’d include.

That is why, perhaps, I am not surprised that I am adding yet another page to my blog, this time focusing on my favourite authors. There have definitely been authors over the years that have shaped the person I am today and who have influenced me and my reading process. I am always on the hunt for new authors and new books to discover. My favourite authors span childhood to adulthood but I love each and every one of them.

I am definitely somebody who hordes sentimental items, and books especially fall into that category. I have many books on my shelves from when I was a wee child and they share the shelves of books I’ve read as recent as this year.

An author becomes a favourite when they do one of these things:

  • In a crime/mystery/detective/thriller where they keep me guessing until the end.
  • Books that explore all characters presented, even the smallest of characters, through the course of a series,
  • Series that stay true to themselves and don’t expose massive gaps between books.
  • Wholesome creativity and imagination without underlying negative themes.

I’m not sure whether those points make any sense to people other than me but those are the main things I think of when I’m reading books by the same author. There are of course, other points that come into play but they are specific to the book or book series and can’t really be counted as part of the above main points.

Hopefully this will be an addition to the blog that people will enjoy. I’ll enjoy it at any rate.

Please let me know if there are any pages you think I should add or if there are any challenges you think I should do.
