I haven’t posted in a long time, a very long time really and I thought it was about time to address the matter.
I stopped reading. Not because I wanted to but because life became more demanding in other areas.
Work has become very busy and will probably continue to be busy for the rest of 2024.
After a year spent on an NHS waiting list, I finally had a slew of hospital appointments which took a lot out of me and often left me tired and unable to focus.
Then I got a head cold which made it impossible to read, or really focus on anything.
Then I had surgery, while I had the head cold and the following week of recovery was unpleasant.
I have now healed from the surgery and the results from my slew of hospital appointments was underwhelming and offered no conclusion.
In the moments where I could have read, I was listening to Podcasts or audiobooks.
As usual, with every festive period, I do a heavy amount of DIY presents and other such projects. I overdo it, leave myself little down time, and always get too stressed.
I am coming to the end of that period, and aside from the hospital appointments, and the business of work, life is settling down a little.
I am definitely NOT achieving my goal of reading 60 books in 2024 but in light of everything that has happened, I’m not feeling the slightest guilt at not completing my goal.
I have started to read in my lunchbreaks again, so that is helping.
I just haven’t had a chance to finish anything, other than 1 audiobook – the review of which will be up soon.
Hope things start to calm down for you and you can enjoy reading again. Reviews can always be done as and when they
