Reading Habits Book Tag

I found this on bibliophilegirluk she has a great blog you should check out! Thought I’d give it a go.

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

I absolutely love reading on my bed. It’s super comfy and loaded with blankets and pillows. The dogs always come and join me and snuggle in close. It always makes me feel super relaxed.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I do have bookmarks but I quite often lose them and then switch to random bits of paper. I’m usually one of those people who reads a book in one sitting, so if I’ve had to bookmark it then it’s usually before the language is too difficult for me to digest at once or it has a sub-plot or sub-genre that makes me want to take breaks from reading.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

Generally I don’t stop reading. I’ll happily sacrifice sleep, social events, work etc. so I can finish the book. Otherwise, if I have to, I stop after reading a chapter.

Do you eat or drink while reading?

I snack on crisps or chocolate. I need to keep my free hand busy or it starts to fiddle and when I read I lose track of time and don’t realise that I haven’t had lunch or dinner. I also snack while reading to keep my iron deficiency in check.

Multitasking: Music or TV whilst reading?

I wouldn’t be able to concentrate reading if I did either of those. I do however listen to ASMR videos but they’re mostly just white noise which I find relaxing.

One book at a time of several?

Usually only one. However, if the one I’m reading is demanding or has topics that I find difficult to read, I tend to read a couple on the go.

Reading at home of everywhere?

Everywhere! I couldn’t stop reading if I tried! I read books at home. I read kindle when I’m out an about. I sometimes even read on my phone. I’m happiest when I’m reading.

Read out loud or silently in your head?

In my head.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

I don’t skip but sometimes I skim because I’m too excited. Or sometimes I’m reading and my eyes just automatically jump to a word further down the page and I have to remind myself that I’ve not read that far yet.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Books were meant to be break. I have books with broken spines and books without. I feel like I’m not loving the book if it still looks like it did when I bought it.

Do you write in your books?

I did when I was at school and university but outside of that I would never write in a book. That’s sacrilegious.

I’m pretty happy with these answers. It was a fun little tag to do. If you have any tag recommendations I should do, please let me know.
