This week has been so busy. I forgot to post a ramble for last week, so first a recap of that!
The week was pretty quiet but I didn’t have any time to read in the evenings. I was either painting, or otherwise engaged with tasks that took me away from reading. Last weekend, (15th & 16th), was my cousins wedding up in London. It was a very warm and inviting event and it was a good excuse to have fun and be merry. I had a good time.
On the car ride back to the hotel, I started to get blurred vision, I felt incredibly hot (there were 7 of us in the car), and thought I was going to be sick. I tried to fight through it because I knew what was happening and asked for windows to be opened. Turns out, the windows don’t open in the back, they only open in the front seats. We asked to stop. The shakes were very obvious in the left side of my body. I was unsteady on my feet. My Uncle let me breathe for a little and then sat me in the front of the car. I had the window completely down and tried to flood myself with air. It only took a second for me to fall unconscious and I was only out for 5 to 10 seconds. I was very grateful that I had my cousin to support me as we walked the 2mins back to the hotel from my Uncles house.
I had had an iron attack. It was a quick and severe one. In short, when my body feels it doesn’t have enough iron it gives me a series of warnings before it eventually shuts down. Usually it starts with the shaking of my left arm and a lightheaded feeling mixed with dizziness and a heavy head. After that my vision goes, it basically gets very blurry and spotty. After that, I’ll start to get very hot and feel sick. If I can’t get myself out in the open air, or get myself food/drink in time, I faint. That’s what happened on Saturday 15th.
Waking up the next day, I legitimately felt like someone had thrown an axe into my head and just left it there. What I really needed was to be home in bed, in a room with the curtains drawn and total darkness surrounding me. The migraine left from the attack was excruciating and one of the worst I’ve had in the last couple of months. We had to go for brunch with the family first and honestly, I’m not even sure how I survived it or quite what happened. It took me the whole of Sunday to recover from the attack. I ended up getting takeaway pizza in the evening, because I was in so much pain. (takeaway pizza is always my go to after an iron attack or when I’ve had a recurring migraine, it helps SO MUCH!)

Onto this week:
Another busy week! I swear there hasn’t been a moment when I’ve been able to stop, relax, and take it easy.
I got my hair done on Tuesday – I have a lot of hair and it retains water – so, I was there from 1:30pm-3:30pm. It would have been longer if I’d had toner put in but I didn’t need it this time. I just get my grey hair covered up and a trim and get some of the weight lifted from my hair.
On Thursday, I saw a GSC production of Macbeth with my friend. It was amazing!
On Saturday, I’m seeing Phantom of the Opera with my parents. It’s my birthday present from them. Phantom is my favourite West End show and yet I’ve never seen it on the West End. I have the 25th anniversary production of it on DVD which I have watched more times than I can remember, but I am so excited to see the real thing. We’re going out for dinner after and I’m just so excited for the whole day.
I might actually have some time for reading on Sunday! If I can get the stuff organised for my party done in time.
Theoretically, next week, I should have more evenings to read. I’m looking forward to a quiet March!!
