Young mouse Pip Hanway is in France as she continues fighting for the French Resistance group Noah’s Ark: a secret gang of animals operating beneath the feet of human soldiers, whose aim is to liberate France and secure the victory of the Allies. Determined to reach her ancestral home of the Umbrella Museum in Italy, Pip hopes she can find long-lost family and a home. But as Pip makes the perilous journey through occupied territory, she soon realizes that danger comes from all sides and that the enemy is all around, and she does everything she can to fight for her friends.

Trying to get back into reading regularly again is harder than I anticipated. I am far busier now than I was 2019. However, I will still keep pushing through, after all, I have a goal of 80 books to read this year!

The Umbrella Mouse had been one of those books I’d waited for as a reader, because it was a story that engulfed me and propelled me into the heart of WW2. This sequel had more adrenaline and heart punching scenes and carried Pip through many more adventures and heartache. War stories are difficult to get right but Fargher writes with such passion and careful knowledge that it is impossible not to get captured by it. I often forget just how many animals were instrumental to WW2 and this is a start reminder of their bravery.

A rare occurrence but I actually have nothing bad to say about this book.
